• Mr. Layser obtained a seven-figure settlement on behalf of a woman in a conservative suburban county. The case involved claims of failure to diagnose a spinal cord abscess.

• Mr. Freiwald won a $4 million verdict on behalf of the estate of a 36-year old woman who died of a deadly pulmonary embolism. She had undergone routine knee surgery, but her orthopedic surgeon had neglected to treat her with appropriate blood-thinning medication to prevent post-operative blood clots.

• Mr. Freiwald won a $4.5 million verdict in a case involving a wrong-site surgery.

• Mr. Layser won an $8.25 million verdict on behalf of the widow of a young man whose family physician failed to diagnose and treat colon cancer. The physician also happened to be the patient’s brother. Mr. Layser’s verdict remains one of the largest plaintiff’s verdicts in conservative Delaware County.

• Mr. Freiwald won an important six-figure verdict against a boys’ overnight camp.  The teenager contracted meningitis but his diagnosis and treatment were delayed while he was kept in the camp infirmary.

• Mr. Layser won a major six-figure verdict on behalf of the estate of a woman who died during a cardiac catheterization because the physician perforated her pulmonary artery.

• Mr. Freiwald won a $6.3 million verdict on behalf of the parents of a 13-month old child whose pediatrician failed to timely diagnose and treat bacterial meningitis.

• Mr. Freiwald won a $6.4 million verdict in a wrongful death case in Pittsburgh. The case involved the failure to monitor toxicity levels of  Depakote, an anti-seizure medication, leading to the death of a 20-year old boy. The verdict is one of the highest verdicts ever in Allegheny County, a very conservative Pennsylvania county.

• Mr. Layser obtained a confidential settlement for the family of a woman who suffered a significant loss of blood resulting in respiratory arrest, stroke and eventual death at a dialysis center.
